Wig Head Measurement Video: Three Measurements to Check
An AI virtual teaching host demonstrates three head measurements using a regular soft measuring tape: around the hairline for circumference, from the centre-front hairline over the crown to the nape hairline, and from above one ear over the crown to the same height above the other. Record your own readings and names on a card. If they do not align with a size chart, check the original chart for the exact style rather than choosing a size or applying another brand’s method. Confirm the style’s information and wearing method before purchase.

This tutorial includes an AI virtual teaching host and general demonstration visuals, not a customer case. Check measurements, fastening and care against the specific style’s original instructions.
Keep these checks in mind
- Prepare a soft measuring tape and arrange your hair as you normally would when wearing a wig.
- If you will wear the wig with your own hair, secure it according to that style’s instructions before measuring.
- For circumference, start at the centre-front hairline, follow the hairline over the ears and around the back, and return to the start; keep the tape flat and comfortable.
- Also measure from the centre-front hairline over the crown to the nape hairline, then from above one ear over the crown to the same height above the other ear.
- Record each actual reading and its measurement name; do not substitute demonstration figures or another person’s measurements.
- If readings do not match the chart, check the original chart and wearing instructions for the exact style rather than choosing a size yourself or using another brand’s method.

How do you measure head circumference so the result is useful?
If you measure at the wrong position,
the cap size you choose may not match.
Prepare a soft measuring tape,
first arrange your hair as you normally would when wearing a wig.
If you will wear the wig with your own hair,
secure your hair according to the style instructions,
Next, measure each item in turn,
write down the actual readings,
do not use the demonstration figures instead of your own measurements.
The first measurement is head circumference.
Start at the centre of the forehead hairline,
follow the hairline over the ears and around the back of the head,
then go all the way around to the starting point.
Keep the tape flat against the shape of your head,
do not twist it or pull it so tight that it digs in.
The second measurement is from the forehead to the nape.
Place the end of the tape at the centre of the forehead hairline,
run it straight over the centre of the crown,
and down to the hairline at the nape.
Check that the endpoint is at the hairline,
not the side of the neck or the collar.
The third measurement is from ear to ear over the top.
Start with the end of the tape just above one ear,
go over the highest point of the head to the same height above the other ear.
do not angle it across the forehead or the back of the head.
enter the actual reading on the record card,
and write down the name of the measurement too.
Remember to use the measurements you took yourself,
do not use somebody else’s numbers.
If the readings for the different measurements do not match the size chart,
do not choose a size on your own,
and do not copy another brand’s sizing method.
First check the original size chart for the specific style you want to buy.
Specifications may differ between cap bases and styles;
even an adjustable strap does not replace the correct cap size.
Before buying, confirm the information and wearing method for that style.
